Communist Party of China provides relief materials worth around Rs 20 million

Kathmandu, October 5: In the presence of representatives of various political parties of Nepal, the Communist Party of China International Department has provided relief materials including rice, pulses, brooms, toothpaste, brushes, soap, sanitary pads, blankets, mats, pressure cookers, handkerchiefs, and water jar containers for the victims of recent floods and landslides in Nepal.
Deputy Chief of the Mission in the Chinese Embassy in Kathmandu, Counselor Wang Xin, handed over cheques of Rs 19.70 million received from the Chinese Communist Party (CPC) to leaders including Nepali Congress central member Madhu Acharya and CPN-UML foreign affairs department China Desk chief Gopal Khanal, CPN Maoist Center politburo member Surya Subedi, CPN Unified Socialist deputy secretary general Ram Kumar Bhattarai.

The relief materials prepared under the management of the International NGO Chinese Fund for Rural Development will be distributed by Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 12.

After the transfer of assistance, Councillor Wang said that China is with Nepal in the disaster, adding that the CPC and the Chinese Red Cross Society had provided assistance. He expressed confidence that with the leadership of the Government of Nepal and the efforts of various political parties, the suffering of the disaster will be relieved as soon as possible.

Chairman of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality Ward No. 12 Balkrishna Maharjan informed that tokens have been distributed to the real victims at their homes and relief materials will be distributed on the basis of these tokens.
Earlier, the Red Cross Society of China had given a grant of $100,000 to the Nepal Red Cross Society. China’s Ambassador to Nepal Han Song handed over a cheque for the same amount to Home Minister Ramesh Lekhak a few days ago.
