FM Deuba lauds AI role in financial sector
Kathmandu, October 4: Minister for Foreign Affairs Dr. Arzu Rana Deuba addressed the Second Meeting of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) Business Forum held in Doha, State of Qatar on October 2 under the theme “Artificial Intelligence and New Business Models”.
Sheikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Qassim Al Thani, Minister of Trade and Industry of Qatar, Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers from ACD Member States attended the inaugural ceremony of the Forum.
In her address to the meeting, Minister Deuba highlighted Artificial Intelligence (AI)’s role in shaping and reshaping global financial architecture, governance and various facets of human life including education, health and security.
The Foreign Minister also stated that AI has unlocked new opportunities for business growth, efficiency and resilience as well as pressing challenges of data security, disinformation and digital divide. She further underscored the need for enhanced cooperation and partnerships among ACD Member States to harness AI potentials for shared prosperity, according to a press release issued by the Nepal Embassy in Doha states.
Mentioning a conducive business environment for foreign investors in Nepal in diverse sectors including energy, tourism, manufacturing, agriculture, infrastructure development, education, health and AI, the Foreign Minister called on business delegations of ACD Member States to tap these investment opportunities.
Minister Deuba also addressed the Third Summit of Asia Cooperation Dialogue (ACD) on October 3.
The Minister also visited the Embassy of Nepal in Doha; took stock of the Embassy’s activities; and instructed the Embassy officials to ensure, inter alia, effective consular services to Nepali Diasporas.
Leading a Nepali delegation to the ACD Summit, the Foreign Minister arrived in Doha on October 1. The Nepali delegation comprises of Foreign Secretary Ms. Sewa Lamsal, Charge d’affaires a.i. Kumar Rai, Joint Secretary Gyan Bahadur Magar and officials of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and Nepal Embassy in Doha.
