Former King’s Dasain message explains nation’s bleak picture
Kathmandu, October 9: Former King Gyanendra has extended hearty greetings on the occasion of the Dasain festival wishing all the Nepalis living in the country and abroad.
The King has expressed serious dissatisfaction with the country’s situation. The King stated, “It is natural for us to feel sad when our desire to see Nepalis happy and prosperous forever wasn’t fulfilled”.
“We left Narayanhiti Palace duly following the royal tradition of being ready to make any sacrifice to bring a positive change in the people’s lives. But even after nearly two decades, our desperation has increased as the aspirations of the Nepali people to live happily in their own country have not been fulfilled.”
“Today Nepal is in a very difficult situation. The burden of constant dependency and debt on us is on the rise. Our rural and urban areas are gradually becoming “youthless.” The youth power in the country has not been able to create an atmosphere of earning and enjoying. The country is facing a terrible situation as a result of not being able to offer options to the youth to develop a self-reliant economy while creating jobs at home. They are forced to go abroad for employment, which has not only barren our agricultural land but also spoiled the mind of every father and mother.”
“We have never desired anything other than peace, stability, happiness, justice and prosperity in the country. We wanted to maintain the status of the country’s universal independence, integrity and social harmony. It was and always should be our keen attention that the country should not become a playground for others.”
“Regional and international tensions have been deepening since the first decade of the 21st century. Nepal has not remained aloof from such tensions. There is a crisis of trust between nations. Due to the geopolitical situation, our country could not remain untouched. Tensions between the superpowers and the self-proclaimed new powers are growing in importance. In such a situation, it is our belief and request that Nepal be declared as a “peaceful nation” and be known throughout the world.”
“The present state of lawlessness and chaos has confirmed the inevitability of our thinking that Nepalis should be the ones to decide about Nepal.”
