Government bans e-cigarettes

Kathmandu, May 8: The government has banned electronic cigarettes (Vapes). The National Health Education, Information and Communication Center under the Department of Health Services has announced a ban on e-cigarettes.

The director of the Center, Keshavraj Pandit, has asked the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, the Ministry of Finance, the Ministry of Industry, Commerce and Supply, the Department of Customs and the Department of Commerce, Supply and Consumer Protection to assist in the implementation of the rule that prohibits the consumption of electronic cigarettes.

As there is a provision in subsection 4 of section 28 of the Tobacco Control and Regulation Directive 2071,  it is not allowed to produce, import, sell, distribute, consume in public places and public transport and promote and advertise through the media, he said, to implement the decision.
