Kathmandu, October 31: The Tihar festival is being observed today by worshipping the Goddess of wealth Laxmi.

This year, due to fluctuation on the Lunar Callander, today is also the Narak Chaturdashi. Therefore, dogs are worshipped in the morning and Laxmipooja is performed in the evening, according to the Panchanga Deciding Development Committee.

Tomorrow, Friday, the festival is observed by worshipping cows.  

On Saturday, oxen are worshipped. The Newar community observes Nepal Sambat (New Year 1145) on Friday. This community also observes Mahapooja on the same day. On Sunday, sisters worship their brothers. The Tihar festival concludes on Sunday.

Meanwhile, the Chhath festival falls immediately after the Tihar festival, will be observed on Thursday, November 7.
