Nepal earns Rs 3 B in two months from IT services

Kathmandu, October 28: According to the report of the Nepal Rastra Bank, Nepal has earned Rs 3 billion in two months by exporting information technology services. According to the Central Bank’s monthly report, information technology-related goods and services worth Rs 3.7 billion have been exported in the last fiscal year.

In the two months of the current fiscal year, the amount of money entering Nepal under this title is Rs 568.4 million more than the same period last year. In the first two months of the last fiscal year, Rs 2.54 billion entered Nepal through the exports of information technology-related goods and services. Various studies have shown that the information technology sector has been giving good benefits to Nepal in recent years. The study reports have pointed out that Nepali manpower is especially abundant in the development of various types of software and their work (product) is highly appreciated in other countries.

The monthly report has also confirmed that Nepal is getting good income through the exports of information and communication services, including information technology and computers.

Around 66,500 IT manpower, who are exporting information technology services to foreigners living in Nepal, are earning more than 67 billion rupees annually. Most of the money coming into Nepal comes from informal sources. Experts say that Nepal will benefit a lot by integrating those businesses into the formal system.
