New chief justice Prakashman Singh Raut to assume office on Sunday
Kathmandu, October 5: Prakashman Singh Raut, who was recommended to the post of chief justice of the Supreme Court by the government, is assuming office on Sunday, October 6, after the approval from the Parliamentary Hearing Committee.
President Ramchandra Paudel appointed Raut as the chief justice and administering the oath of office and secrecy on Sunday at 1.30 pm.
Chief Justice Bushambar Prasad Shrestha is going to retire from the post this evening following the age limit of 65 years.
Raut remains as the chief justice until March 31, 2026.
