Nepal Army bags gold medal in UK

Kathmandu, October 13: The Nepali Army (NA) won a gold medal in this year’s Exercise Cambrian Patrol 2024, held in Wales, the United Kingdom.

In the Patrol that was organised from October 9 to 11, the NA squad clinched the gold. A total of 121 international soldiers’ teams representing 37 countries including Britain competed for the title, according to the NA Directorate of Public Relations and Information.

The NA has been competing in the annual event that has been in place since 1960 for the past 24 years.

The Exercise requires the participants to complete a 50-kilometer distance, carrying logistics weighing around 50 pounds in two days by demonstrating skills in combat preparation, information gathering, and the management of injuries and illness.

This is the third time that the NA has secured gold in the Exercise. Previously, it was the winner of the title for 2017 and 2019.  The event that takes place across the terrain of Brecon Beacons is considered the toughest patrol test of the British Army.
