Rabi Lamichhane to stay under Police custody for additional seven days
Kathmandu, October 24: Rabi Lamichhane and Chhawilal Joshi, who were arrested in connection with a cooperative fraud and organized crime case, have been given an order to stay under Police custody for a further seven days.
The bench of Kaski District Court Judge Chandrakant Poudel has permitted the Police to keep Lamichhane and Joshi for a further seven days under Police detention to investigate the case. Leela Pachai, who was arrested in the same case, has also been given an extension of 7 days.
On behalf of the government, Advocate Kamla Kafle of the District Government Attorney Office, Assistant District Judges Shanti Devi Sharma and Bipin Raj Tiwari, Advocate Bibi Bisht and Yuvraj Parajuli argued. Prosecutors had asked for an additional 25 days to investigate. In the investigation, documents were demanded from various government offices and banks, but they were not immediately received and the statement was demanded to be kept as soon as possible.
On behalf of Rabi Lamichhane, senior advocates Narayan Ghimire and Hariprasad Subedi, advocates Narayan Kandel, Sovita Gautam, Madhukumar Chaulagain and Padmaraj Sharma advocated.
Senior advocate Jagannath Dhakal argued on behalf of Chhavilal Joshi.
Lamichhane, who is the president of the Rastriya Swatantra Party, was arrested on Friday.
