Summiteers welcomed at TIA
Kathmandu, October 14: Nepali mountaineers who scaled the 8,827-meter-high mountain Sisapang in China were welcomed in Kathmandu.
Climbers who set the record for scaling all 14 peaks over 8,000 meters were welcomed at the Tribhuvan International Airport (TIA), with traditional “Panchebaja”.
Dawa Yangjum Sherpa, the first Nepalese woman to summit all 14 mountains above 8,000 meters, was joined by Nima Rinji Sherpa, Tejan Sherpa, and Pasang Sherpa, who successfully climbed these peaks.
Members of the Nepal Mountaineering Association, family members and sports fans performed the hearty welcome to the mountaineers.
A celebratory procession took place from TIA, along with the climbers who started from the TIA took a round, passing through Baneshwar, Tripureshwar, and Thamel, and concluded at Bhrikutimandap.
