Kathmandu, October 29: Tihar, the second greatest festival of the Nepalis, has started today. The festival will be concluded after Bhaitika (sisters worshipping brothers) on Sunday, November 3.

Tihar festival is observed for five days. Dhanteras is the first day of the festival. During the five-day festival, crows, dogs, cows, oxen, and brothers are worshipped.

Meanwhile, the Newar community observes the New Year. The Year 1145 will start during this Tihar festival–the next day of the Laxmi Pooja. Laxmi Pooja is observed on Thursday, the third day of the Tihar festival.
