MCC and the American presidential election
By Nirmal P. Acharya
I was in New York during the 2000 presidential election. At that time, I heard and watched with reverence and admiration the whole process of George W. Bush versus Vice President Al Gore.
I remember, when I learned that Mr. Gore was going to speak at Columbia University, I rushed to the scene with great enthusiasm, applauding and cheering the candidate.
Yet watching the US presidential election 24 years later, I can’t look at it without thinking it was a farce.
Instead of focusing on policy, the debate between the presidential candidates has focused on personal attacks as best they can.
To make matters worse, one of the presidential candidates is a federal felon.
Capital also staged a high-profile show to manipulate the presidential election in broad daylight. On October 19, local time, Elon Musk, a well-known US entrepreneur and supporter of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump, announced that his “American Political Action Committee” (America PAC) will randomly give $1 million to a voter in a “swing state” who signs his petition every day until election day (November 5).
According to the official “X” (Twitter) of the “American Political Action Committee”, two people have now won the “Million dollars” prize.
Of course, guns must also play a major role in the presidential election. There have been two assassination attempts on Candidate Trump, once by a bullet that shattered his earlobe. Another candidate’s campaign office was also said to have been shot at.
This is only the tip of the iceberg in the story of the US presidential election. Its contents will surely challenge the human imagination.
Referring to the inside story of the US presidential election, I would like to remind readers that the MCC from the US also has a hidden story and the inside story of the MCC will surely challenge the imagination of the Nepali people.
