Kathmandu, October 10: According to the lunar calendar, Fulpati is being observed today, the seventh day of the Dasain festival

All government offices and banks will remain closed from today until October 14; however, the Dasain festival will conclude only on October 16.

Although the country is declared secular federal republic, there is the tradition of bringing Fulpati from Gorkha Palace, the Dasain Ghar (house) of King Prithivi Narayan Shah the Great, unifier of the modern Nepal. The Fulpati brought from the Gorkha Durwar will be placed at the Hanuman Dhoka Dasain Ghar, the main Pooja House of the Shah Kings.
