Chaudhary Group fined for producing unhealthy Wai Wai noodles

Kathmandu, April 26: Wai-Wai instant noodles produced by Chaudhary Group have failed to maintain the standard quality. According to the Kathmandu Metropolis Corporation (KMC), the quality of Wai-Wai instant noodles was found harmful to health.

The Market Monitoring Committee of the KMC sent samples of some noodles to the laboratory for quality test. The result was negative and the KMC announced a fine worth two hundred thousand rupees to the Chaudhary Group.

The monitoring inspector of the Metropolis, Dr. Awadhesh Jha, informed about the fine and to return all the substandard noodles.

“We have given instructions to bring back all the noodles in the market. As the acid value in the noodles of one lot is abnormal, we have given this instruction,” he said.

He said that the oil used to cook the noodles was of poor quality due to repeated use.

A consumer complained to the Metropolis after seeing unnatural swelling in the noodles. After the complaint, the monitoring team of the metropolis brought some packets of noodles from the market and sent them to Zest Laboratory for testing. In the test, it was found that the acid value of the noodles was not appropriate.
