Kathmandu, October 26: The Ministry of Forests and Environment is to add climate change also. The Ministry is being renamed as the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change, said Secretary of the Ministry of Forest and Environment Deepak Kumar Kharal.

Kharel said that the meeting of the National Council for Disaster Risk Reduction and Management made a decision to rename the Ministry of Forest, Environment as the Ministry of Forest, Environment and Climate Change. 

He said that coordination on climate change in Nepal is very important. The council meeting today has made an instruction to name the Ministry of Forestry and Environment as the Ministry of Forestry, Environment and Climate Change. 

Secretary Kharal said that the nation is experiencing many problems and challenges due to climate change and the special environment and mountainous geography of Nepal.
