Government constitutes land commission again
Kathmandu, October 30: The government has again formed a commission to solve the land problem. The cabinet meeting on Tuesday constituted the Commission under the chairmanship of UML leader Hariprasad Rijal, UML’s Lumbini Province chief.
Government Spokesperson and Communications Minister Prithvi Subba Gurung informed that an eight-member Land Problem Resolution Commission has been formed. The Commission will consist of nine members, including the Secretary. After the restoration of democracy in 1990, 16 commissions have been formed, yet, the land problem has not been resolved. The Commission has become an organ to assign party workers and provide financial facilities from the government treasury. Neither the problems of the scatters nor the problem of irregular settlement have been solved. With the change of government, the work of forming and dismissing the commission has been going on.
Those, who are appointed to the Commission:
Hariprasad Rijal, President (Pyuthan) and Sanat Karki, Vice President (Jajarkot).
Members: Anilkrishna Prasain (Jhapa), Gobardan Oli (Darchula), Arati Bhandari (Tanahun), Tekbahadur Shah (Kailali), Jagatbahadur Basnet (Sindhupalchok), Anil Krishna Prasad, and Sushil Dungole is the Member Secretary, according to reports.
